Comprehensive Plan Update

The 2008 Comprehensive Plan update process has been divided into several components: a technical update, which was completed in March of 2008, an update to the Housing Chapter, which was completed in February of 2009, and updates to the Long-Range Land Use, Transportation and Environment chapters, which are on-going.

Land Use and Transportation Update

Seven town hall meetings were held throughout the County between June  and October 2009 on the Land Use Chapter and Transportation Chapter update to the Comprehensive Plan. The Board of County Supervisors will hold a work session on Dec. 8, 2009 to discuss comments received during the town hall meetings. Comments can still be forwarded by email to planning@pwcgov.org or by using the online Comment Form.

During the town hall meetings, the following text was presented for review:2008 Comprehensive Plan Cover Page

Environment Chapter Update

The Planning Commission is beginning the five-year review of the Comprehensive Plan’s Environment Chapter. The Chapter aims to ensure that the County’s natural beauty is preserved, our streams and wetlands are protected, property values and quality of life are enhanced, and wildlife habitats are preserved.

The policies and actions in the Environment Chapter advance these and other important environmental goals. The Chapter covers a range of topics, including stormwater standards, impervious surfaces, tree save areas, low impact development, limits to clearing and grading, streams and wetlands, sewer systems, energy conservation, land conservation and more.

The Planning Commission wants to hear what’s important to you! Please join the Planning Commission for one or all three public meetings to discuss changes to the Environment Chapter (click here for a schedule). We also appreciate your written input, which can be e-mailed to PCFeedback@pwcgov.org.

Input for the Environment Chapter will be posted on this Web page as it becomes available (click here to see comments received to date), along with the draft proposal and other information relevant to this update.
