The Comprehensive Plan is the document by which the County evaluates rezoning and special use permit applications, public facility locations and capital improvements for consistency with its development policies. If an application has been determined to be inconsistent with the Comprehensive Plan, a Comprehensive Plan Amendment may be considered. In such an event, the applicant must have the amendment request initiated by the Board of County Supervisors. Applications for Comprehensive Plan Amendments are reviewed annually. To be considered for review, all applications must be received by the Planning Office no later than the close of business the first Friday of January. Once initiated, an amendment will be heard by the Planning Commission, then forwarded, with the Commission's recommendation, to the Board of County Supervisors for final action. |
