On July 10, 2007, the Board of County Supervisors passed a resolution expressing concern about illegal immigration and the impacts it has on the community. This resolution directed the Chief of Police to establish certain standards for the department and to enter into an agreement with homeland security. The Chief presented the police report to the Board on Sept. 18, 2007 (see below). The resolution also directed the County Executive to outline the enabling authority and legal conditions under which the County provides public benefits to local residents. At its Oct. 16, 2007, meeting, the Board of County Supervisors approved the following resolution (07-894): "Implement Recommendations Derived from the Illegal Immigration Service Analysis, and Restrict Identified Services"
