Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation Donation!
The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation donated $1,000 to the Prince William Public Library System for the purchase of books and other media to help educate the community on breast cancer. Brenda Bryant, the Prince William affiliate chapter coordinator, presented the check to Library Director, Richard W. Murphy.
The Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation (VBCF) was founded in 1991 and is a non-profit organization committed to the eradication of breast cancer through education and advocacy. All 10 libraries will receive books and other materials on breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and management. The Library System would like to thank the Foundation for its generous donation for our collection and our community. |

Veterans Day Closings
All branches and neighborhood libraries of the Prince William Public Library System will be closed Wednesday, November 11th in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. All libraries will reopen on Thursday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m..
Electronic resources and the library catalog are available even when the Library System is closed.
Dr.Seuss Winner in Chinn Park Regional Library Election Kids vote, too! Children of all ages cast their ballot for their favorite author at the Chinn Park Regional Library on Election Day and Dr. Seuss, the creator of The Cat and the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, and many, many more children’s classics carried the day. Dav Pilkey, creator of the Captain Underpants series came in a second. |

2nd Annual Potomac Book of Records Event Celebrate the anniversary of the Guinness Book of World Records by participating in library-based contests to create the Potomac Library Book of Records and a Wall of Fame in the Children’s Department. The afternoon promises to be fun for the whole family as we learn about records and record breakers, take part in games, and maybe even attempt some records of our own.

Celebrate American Indian Heritage Month with Mama Mary Sunbeam
Celebrate American Indian Heritage Month at the Potomac Library. Join us for Cherokee drumming, songs, history and storytelling with Mama Mary Sunbeam. Mama Mary has a rich background in Native American history and customs, and this interactive program is designed to help families enjoy learning about, and participating in, Native American customs and stories.

Back by popular demand: Jazz The Music of America Series.
Jazz, like the country where it was born, keeps changing with the times and the people. Join us for some spirited jazz concerts performed by local musicians.
Sunday, November 8, 2:00 Dixieland Jazz featuring Seth Kibel’s Dixieland Quartet Potomac Community Library, Dixieland is one of the earliest and best loved jazz styles. In Dixieland brass bands meet French Quadrilles, ragtime and blues. So join us for an exciting musical afternoon to hear favorites from the birthplace of jazz, New Orleans.
Light refreshments will be served after each concert.
Registration in person or by phone begins at the hosting library one month before the concert date. Funding for this series is being provided by the Friends of the Library and by the Music Performance Fund. The performances have been arranged through the offices of the DC Federation of Musicians, AFM Local 161-710, and are funded in part, by the Recording Industry through the Music Performance Fund. The sales of compact discs and cassettes generate funds that make these free concerts possible. |
