The Neighborhood Leaders Group brings together residents interested in neighborhood improvement and County staff responsible for preventing deterioration in neighborhoods. The main activities of the group are to strategize solutions for neighborhood issues; give input to County staff on neighborhood issues, enforcement processes, and County Clean Up locations; learn about property maintenance codes and implement action plans. The group has been instrumental in many County efforts, as detailed below.
The Neighborhood Leaders Group meets monthly on different nights of the week. The Schedule of Meetings shows dates and locations; meeting topics are added after the agenda has been set at the previous meeting.

Neighborhood Leaders Group Resources
While there are many pages on this Web site that can help those interested in neighborhood improvement, the pages linked here have been created specifically for, and by, the Neighborhood Leaders Group. These resources represent some of the work done by the Group.
Achievements of the Neighborhood Leaders Group
The Schedule of Meetings contains a record of each meeting's activities; scroll past the upcoming events to reach the "Past Training Topics and Group Accomplishments." The group began meeting in June of 2008, with the first meetings concentrating on sharing strategies for neighborhood improvements and learning about ordinances. After evaluating the usefulness of the meetings, the group adopted a Neighborhood Leaders Group Mission Statement. In October 2008, the group adopted a three-year Neighborhood Leaders Group Strategic Plan and has devised measurable activities to achieve the plan.
Inspectors and Intake Technicians from the Property Code Enforcement (PCE) branch of Neighborhood Services have made presentations to the Neighborhood Leaders on the enforcement processes of various zoning, vegetation and refuse ordinances. Neighborhood Leaders took advantage of an audio-conference sponsored by the International City/County Managers Association to learn "The Power of Community Building." Attendees have heard from the Zoning Administrator, Nick Evers, and have learned how the "Dillon's Rule" interpretation of law governs the authorities granted to local government by the state. The training schedule remains flexible to meet the most current needs of the group and can be seen on the Schedule of Meetings.
Neighborhood Representation
The neighborhoods currently receiving information from the Neighborhood Leaders Group has become too large for publication here! HOAs and non-HOA neighborhoods from across the County are linked to the Neighborhood Leaders Group. If your neighborhood is not participating, know that you are welcome to attend and take advantage of the experience and knowledge of other neighborhood leaders and guest speakers.
