Fourth of July Holiday Closings
All libraries will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 in observance of the Fourth of July holiday. All libraries are closed on Sundays for the summer months. All libraries reopen to the public on Monday, July 6, at 10:00 a.m..

Vice Chairman and Brentsville District Supervisor Wally Covington, Nokesville Neighborhood Library Supervisor Dona Swanson, and Library System Director Richard Murphy display the new books, music CDs, DVDs and Playaways donated by Vice Chairman Covington in support of the Library System's 2009 Love My Library Campaign. Thanks to the $1,500 donation from Supervisor Covington's funds, more than 145 items were purchased for Nokesville and Independent Hill Neighborhood Libraries. The Library System wishes to thank the Vice Chairman, as well as all the library users and County staff members who generously donated to this year's Campaign. |

Summer Quest and Wild Reads Have Begun!
The Library's annual Summer Reading Programs have begun! Infants through students in grade 5 can join Summer Quest! Just read 5, 15, or 25 books to earn special prizes! And, every week, participants receive the Coupon of the Week for free or discounted restaurants, parks, and sporting events!
Students in grades 6 through 12 can join Wild Reads, our online Summer Reading Program for middle and high school students! Read 3, 6 or 9 books and earn special prizes! In addition, with your permission, the Library System will publish your reviews of any books you read! Students in Virginia have been assessed using the Lexile Framework in order to match students to materials they can comprehend. Maybe you have seen this measure on your child's report card or summer reading list and are uncertain what it means for your child.
On Monday, July 6th at 7:00 p.m., join us at the Potomac Library for a discussion about the lexile measures and learn how to use them to help your child become a lifelong reader! Registration begins June 22 and is recommended but not required.

Commemorate the first anniversary of the First Battle of Bull Run (Manassas) with the authors of the new and acclaimed Civil War time-travel book for kids, Stonewall Hinkleman and the Battle of Bull Run. Michael Hemphill and Sam Riddleburger entertain audiences of all ages with a show that includes juggling, hardtack and engaging conversation about the Civil War's first major battle.
