Prince William County ranks eighth nationwide in job growth, according to CNN Money.

“As Prince William County continues to receive accolades for job creation, it’s increasingly obvious that the County is one of the nation’s most pro-business communities,” said Prince William Chairman Corey A. Stewart. “Sound fiscal management, low taxes and talented people create a fertile environment for business here in Prince William County.”

A job growth rate of 11.4% from 2010 through 2012 earned Prince William County a spot on the top ten list. The ranking is featured in cnnmoney.com’s annual "Where the Jobs Are" list.  Prince William made the list five of the last six years and was the only Virginia locality to appear in the top 25 list in both 2012 and 2013.

“Out of thousands and thousands of communities in the United States, the fact that we rank number eight is significant,” said Jeff Kaczmarek, the Executive Director of the Prince William Department of Economic Development.

Several factors contributed to the rating among the top 10 places for job creation. The County’s ready labor force, business friendly environment and streamlined permitting process all make Prince William an attractive business location.

The report also cited reverse commute patterns as a key benefit to businesses locating in Prince William County. This cuts employee drive times by as much as half.

“Those are key attributes when companies are making location decisions and I think the message is that people are taking notice about what’s going on here in Prince William County,” Kaczmarek said. “What it says to people making investment decisions is that companies are growing and expanding and our labor force is growing and expanding in Prince William County because we have a very solid business proposition. Actions speak louder than words. Numbers matter.”

Kaczmarek said the news would help Prince William County further increase its profile across the country, “There are lots of good things happening and we want people to take a look at the county and give us a call to talk about how we can help them grow their business or locate their business here.”

Prince William County was first recognized in CNN Money’s “Best for Job Growth” list in 2008 at #23. Prince William County was named to CNN Money’s “Where the Jobs Are list” in 2010 and 2011 taking 17th and 13th spots in the rankings respectively. The County also ranked 8th in 2012.  In the rankings for 2013, Falls Church and Prince William County were the only Virginia communities named to the list.
