The purpose of the BZA is to review and decide appeals of zoning determinations and requests for variances to zoning provisions. See also Section 900 of the Zoning Ordinance in the County Code. The BZA meets when an application for an appeal or a request for a variance has been submitted. Meetings are held on the third Monday of each month, May through December, and on the fourth Monday of each month, January through April. BZA meetings start at 2 p.m. in the Board Chambers of the James J. McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Court, Prince William, VA 22192. The meetings are open to the public. The Nov. 16, 2009 meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals has been canceled. The Board of Zoning Appeals will not meet in December 2009. The next regular meeting of the Board of Zoning Appeals is Monday, Jan. 25, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Board Chambers of the James J. McCoart Administration Building. The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) is composed of seven County residents appointed to staggered five-year terms by the Circuit Court. Members must hold no other public office; however, one may be a member of the Planning Commission. Members may be reappointed. The Board of County Supervisors may make appointment recommendations.
