The Finance Department produces the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), Demographic Fact Sheets, Economic Indicators newsletter, Investment Performance Reports, Revenue Reports and others. Below are links to those publications.

Bond Investors Page

The Finance Department, per statutory requirement, produces an Official Statement in support of Prince William County’s bond issuances. These documents contain complete details of the bond issues, as well as comprehensive information about the County, its citizens and its governance. Documents can be found here

Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports

The Accounting Division annually produces a financial report in accordance with Section 15.2-2511 of the Code of Virginia. The Government Finance Officers Association has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to Prince William County each of the last 25 years. Prior years' CAFR available for download contain dated information for historical reference only.

Demographics

On Jan. 1, 2009, the Finance Department took over management of the County's Demographic Information service. This includes maintenance of the County's Standard Data Set, publication of the Quarterly Demographic Fact Sheet and responsibility for all inquiries regarding Prince William County demographics. As part of our commitment to reduce the use of paper in various publications, we will distribute the Demographic Fact Sheet electronically. If you would like a copy of the latest Demographic Fact Sheet, click the link:

Economic Indicators Newsletters

The Finance Department publishes a quarterly Economic Indicators newsletter for the County that includes highlights of the local real estate market, retail sales, building permits, vehicle registrations and national economic trends that may impact the local economy.

FITNIS

The Financial Trending System (FITNIS) reports for the County provide the citizens and the Board of County Supervisors with quantitative information regarding the economic, financial and demographic status of Prince William County. To view FITNIS documents, click here.

Investments

The Finance Department, in accordance with its Principles of Sound Financial Management and Investment Policies, produces quarterly investment reports.

In accordance with the Principles of Sound Financial Management, the County maintains a written Investment Policy approved by the Board of County Supervisors. The goal of the policy is to strengthen and improve the County’s investment management program. The policy and related procedures are provide the investment objectives using authorized investment instruments. In addition, the policies and procedures provide adequate controls through investment selection, diversification, monitoring, and reporting. To view the current Investment Policy document, click the link: Investment Policy (Dec. 2008)

Popular Annual Financial Reports

The Popular Annual Financial Report is a report which presents complex financial and statistical information in a format designed to be more easily understood by those with a less-extensive financial background.

Presentations to the Board of County Supervisors

Presentations are made to the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS) by the Finance Department primarily on debt, budget and revenue issues.

Real Estate Assessments Division Annual Reports

The Real Estate Assessments Office annually produces a report on the real estate property in Prince William County.

Revenue Reports

The Finance Department produces a five-year revenue report annually as part of the Finance Department's responsibility to the citizens of Prince William County to carefully plan for the funding of services. Periodic revenue status reports are presented to the Board of County Supervisors.

Single Audit Reports

Prior to FY 2008, the Finance Department produced a Single Audit Report to demonstrate compliance with requirements and regulations associated with its major federal programs. This information can now be found in the Compliance Section of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
