Below are frequently asked questions concerning the School Age Care (SAC) Program.

Q: What are SAC hours of operation?
A: SAC sites operate from 6 a.m. until school begins; they re-open at school dismissal until 6:30 p.m. The SAC main office operates from 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Q: Where may I find SAC Policies and Procedures?
A: The SAC Parent Handbook has all of the policies and procedure for the SAC program. To obtain or view a copy of the SAC Parent Handbook, click here.
Q: Where do I make the weekly SAC tuition payment?
A: Payments are made on-site at your SAC program. Put the check or money order in the payment box which is located on the sign in/out table.
Q: When is SAC tuition due?
A: SAC tuition is due every Monday, and will be considered late if received after Tuesday.
Q: When is my SAC tuition pro-rated?
A: SAC tuition is only pro-rated when the SAC program cannot be offered to parents for three or more days in a Monday-Friday week.
Q: May I pre-pay my SAC tuition (pay in advance)?
A: Yes, you may pre-pay (pay in advance). Please indicate the weeks you are paying on the check or money order, and include your account number.
Q: Is it possible to pay SAC tuition online?
A: Yes, if you use a bill payer service through your bank. Contact the bookkeeper for your account number and mailing address. Schedule payments with a four (4) day mailing window in mind so checks arrive on time.
Q: How does SAC reduced tuition work, and when does it become effective?
A: Reduced tuition is offered to families whose children receive reduced or free lunch at school through the PWC Food Services program. Reduced tuition is effective the Monday following receipt of the PWC Food Services letter in the SAC office. The fees are not retroactive.
Q: How do I make changes to my child's status?
A: All changes to your child(ren)’s status (i.e. start date, before, after, before/after, transfers) must be faxed or e-mailed to SAC by 5 p.m. the Friday prior to the change. Changes will be accepted if space is available and take effect the Monday following notification. Q: When does the two-week SAC withdrawal notice begin?
A: The two weeks begins when the SAC office is in receipt of the written notification. Written notification must be in the SAC office by 5 p.m. the Friday prior to the first week of the two week notice.
Q: May my two-week SAC withdrawal be waived if my employment ends?
A: Within one week of employment loss, proper written verification of employment loss must be sent to SAC. At that point, your two-week notice may be waived.
Q: May I leave my change and/or withdrawal request with my SAC Director?
A: No. All changes and/or withdrawals must be sent by fax or e-mail to the SAC office for processing.
Q: What happens if my child is sick and out all week?
A: You must notify SAC as soon as possible in writing and provide written notification from your child's physician. Once proper notification has been received, you may use a vacation week for that Monday-Friday week. This vacation week does not carry over into part of the next week.
Q: What is considered 'Special Needs?'
A: Special Needs could be a child that uses medication regularly or a child with a medical condition, educational or behavioral issues, food allergies, etc. Call the SAC office at 703-792-6091 for more details.
Q: How does SAC work for holiday closings?
A: If PWC schools are closed for a holiday, SAC is closed.
Q: How does SAC work for Teacher Inservice Workdays?
A1: Full-day Teacher workday - when school is closed all day for a teacher workday, all currently enrolled SAC students may attend SAC all day.
A2: Half-day Teacher workday - when school closes 1/2 day for parent/teacher conferences, afternoon SAC is only available to students registered to attend 'after care only' and 'before and after care.' Students registered to attend SAC in the 'before care only' may not attend afternoon SAC, just morning SAC.
Q: Are there additional fees for my child to attend the teacher workdays?
A: No.
Q: Why isn't SAC tuition pro-rated the week of Thanksgiving?
A: SAC tuition is only pro-rated if SAC cannot be offered to parents three (3) or more days in a Monday-Friday week.
Q: Does SAC offer drop-in service?
A: No. All SAC registrations are based on weekly attendance. Q: Is regular SAC tuition due for the week of winter and spring camps if my child does not attend the camp?
A: No.
