To elect U.S. Congressmen in Congressional Districts 1, 10, and 11

Books are closed for the 21 days prior to each election. 
No new registrations can be added and no changes to registration records can be made while books are closed.

  • Virginia has a General Election every November on the Tuesday following the first Monday in the month.
  • Federal offices are elected in even-numbered years, with Presidential elections in leap years.
  • State and Local offices are elected in odd-numbered years.
  • Haymarket, Occoquan, and Quantico Mayor and Town Council serve for two years; and are elected in even-number years on the first Tuesday in May.
  • Dumfries Mayor and three Town Council members are elected to four-year terms on the first Tuesday in May. The other three Dumfries Town Council members are elected in the opposite even-numbered years (in leap years) on the first Tuesday in May.
  • If primaries are called by the two political parties for U.S. Senate and/or U.S. Representative offices, they are held on the second Tuesday in June.
