Statewide Primaries
The parties may call primaries to select candidates for Congressional Districts 1, 10, and 11 |

Nov. 2, 2010 |
General Election
To elect U.S. Congressmen in Congressional Districts 1, 10, and 11 |
Books are closed for the 21 days prior to each election.
No new registrations can be added and no changes to registration records can be made while books are closed.

- Virginia has a General Election every November on the Tuesday following the first Monday in the month.
- Federal offices are elected in even-numbered years, with Presidential elections in leap years.
- State and Local offices are elected in odd-numbered years.
- Haymarket, Occoquan, and Quantico Mayor and Town Council serve for two years; and are elected in even-number years on the first Tuesday in May.
- Dumfries Mayor and three Town Council members are elected to four-year terms on the first Tuesday in May. The other three Dumfries Town Council members are elected in the opposite even-numbered years (in leap years) on the first Tuesday in May.
- If primaries are called by the two political parties for U.S. Senate and/or U.S. Representative offices, they are held on the second Tuesday in June.
