Recycling Drop-off Trailers  




 
 

Recycling trailer located at Public Works landfillResidents may recycle newspaper, mixed paper, bottles & cans, and household batteries at the trailers located around the County. Please use bins on both sides of the trailer. Please do not mix bottles and cans with paper. Put batteries in the Battery Box mounted on the end of the trailer (not at all locations). Please help keep the Recycling Trailer areas tidy. Take home bags and boxes. Do not leave trash at the site.

Materials Accepted:

  - Food and Beverage Containers:

  • Glass bottles and jars - remove caps & rinse.  We do not accept plate glass, mirrors, light bulbs, ceramics, cookware, drinking glasses or chemical bottles.
  • All metal, steel and aluminum cans - rinse.  We do not accept foil, trays, pans, aerosol cans or paint cans.
  • Plastics - plastic jugs and bottles regardless of the number - remove caps and rinse.  We do not accept tubs, cups, Styrofoam, dishes, bags, wraps, deli or takeout containers, freezer food trays, yogurt containers, or motor oil containers.

  - Newspaper and Mixed Paper:

  • Includes white/colored paper, magazines, catalogs, phone books, soft cover or paperback books, junk mail (even envelopes with clear windows), and empty non-waxed food boxes (i.e. cookie and cereal boxes).  We do not accept plastic bags or cardboard boxes. 
  • Flatten food boxes to fit into the recycling bin (please take large cardboard boxes to the PWC Landfill or to the PWC Yard Waste Composting Facility at Balls Ford Road. Be sure your paper is free of food, and do not recycle waxed, foil or coated paper. Recycle only paper that can be torn – no plastic coated items like overnight shipping envelopes.Battery Box

  - Household batteries (not available at all locations):  Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH),  Lithium  Ion (Li-ion), Alkaline, Carbon Zinc, Silver-oxide button type batteries (watches, calculators, etc.)

  • Cokesbury Methodist Church at 14806 Blackburn Road (near the intersection with Reddy Road) in Woodbridge -(Please note that the church sponsors a separate container for aluminum cans used as a fund raising activity.)

  • Linton Hall School, 9535 Linton Hall Road, Bristow 
  • James Long Park on Route 15 - north of Dominion Valley
  • Nokesville Park on Aden Road - 12560 Aden Rd.
  • Town of Haymarket on Jefferson Street (adjacent to the Haymarket Masonic Lodge and Gainesville District Volunteer Fire Station)

 The materials listed below are also accepted at both the Landfill and Balls Ford Road facilities

  • Corrugated (wafer board) cardboard - flatten (no waxed cardboard, no cookie, cereal or paperboard food boxes)
  • Scrap metal.  We do not accept car bodies.
  • Car batteries
  • Used oil filters 
  • Motor oil or antifreeze - store separately in clean container.  We do not accept other fluids or solvents.
  • Grass, leaves, brush, branches and pruning.  We do not accept no food wastes.
