PWC - Textile Recycling Program

The Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division offers an opportunity to recycle textiles and paired shoes. Please continue to donate any usable clothing and shoes to local thrift shops and charities. Citizens can then recycle clothing and shoes that are in poor condition or not suitable for reuse.

Textiles and clothing like pants, shirts, dresses, skirts, and formal wear, must be dry (not mildewed) and in clean condition that is free from contamination created by water, chemicals or other substances. Some materials are not accepted in this program: drapes, curtains, blankets, towels, sheets, carpet, rubber, mattresses, and plastic toys.

Citizens may place clothing and paired shoes in plastic bags and deliver to the PWC Landfill on Dumfries Road or the PWC Yard Waste Composting Facility on Balls Ford Road.

Recycling textiles will help the County and its residents reach the goal to recycle 40% of our waste. Currently, the County and residents recycle 35.4% of waste. Recycling helps save landfill space and conserves natural resources.
